Nazareth Housing Development Corporation is a nonprofit corporation that addresses the modern housing crisis by rehabilitating homes and making them available for rent or sale to low/moderate-income communities.
Nazareth Housing was founded in 1999 with the purpose of alleviating the lack of affordable housing. It was incorporated as a 50(c)(3) in 2001, and recognized by the State of Ohio as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) in 2002.
For over 25 years, NH has provided high-quality affordable housing, lead hazard reduction, home repairs, and community stabilization services to over twenty-five neighborhoods in Summit County, Ohio.

• Produced 544 affordable housing units through federal, state, county, and city programs
• Fully rehabilitated 112 homes
• Constructed 20 new homes
• Completed over 300 owner-occupied home repairs
• Completed 500+ lead-safe units through five Lead Safe Akron grant cycles
• Relocated 280+ families during lead hazard control work
• Owned and managed 14 affordable rental units
• Returned dozens of distressed properties to productive use through acquisition and full rehabilitation
• Developed workforce pathways for residents facing employment barriers
Nazareth has administered more than 15 federally funded housing programs, including:
• HUD Lead Hazard Control Grants (Lead I–V)
• HOME-funded new construction and rehabilitation
• CDBG-funded home repairs and accessibility modifications
• NSP1 and NSP3 redevelopment projects
• ARPA-funded home repair initiatives
